Asia Argento was born in Rome, Italy, into the family of actors as well as filmmakers. Both are careers she herself has pursued. Giuseppe Piccioni's Condannato a Nozze showcased Asia's absorbed way of performing. In 1993, she portrayed Arianna in Carlo Verdone's Perdiamoci di vista. It was a character in which she was so intricate that she earned the David di Donatello award as the most outstanding actress. Also, she was a part of the performance in the international ensemble of Queen Margot directed by Patrice Chereau. The collaboration she had with Michel Piccoli, in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion won her yet another award, this time the David di Donatello as well as Grolla of Oro. Asia started directing in the year 1994, and produced two shorts: Prospettive (1996), an account of her father's life and her mother, as well as Abel/Asia (1998), a film on the legendary filmmaker Abel Ferrara.
